For a Cleaner Environment – Through Knowledge and Responsibility

The visit brought together 30 representatives from local institutions and organizations in Ražanj to exchange experiences and gain knowledge about best practices and improvements in waste management at the local level.

Participants had the opportunity to learn how municipal waste disposal is managed in Pirot, how secondary raw materials are sorted, as well as how the composting process works.

In the previous period, the Municipality of Ražanj, with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, established a Recycling Yard, which includes space for composting, solid waste disposal, and facilities for employees.

However, for its full operation, further capacity building at the local level is necessary. The project "From Waste to Resource" contributes to improving sustainable waste management through education and infrastructure development.

In addition to the study visit, the project activities include various workshops, a campaign aimed at raising citizen awareness about recycling and waste separation, the procurement of composters, training of employees at the Recycling Yard, and encouraging active citizen participation.

The experiences gained during the study visit will contribute to the further implementation of sustainable practices in Ražanj, the development of the waste management system, and the creation of a healthier and better-organized environment for its citizens.
