Switzerland Supports Environmental Protection in 18 Cities and Municipalities in Serbia
With financial support from the Government of Switzerland amounting to over EUR 225,000 and contributions from local governments worth more than EUR 31,000, projects will be implemented over the next year to address priority environmental challenges in local communities.
Through a public call, local governments, in partnership with civil society organizations, proposed projects that respond to specific needs identified in local environmental protection frameworks, with a special focus on nature-based solutions and citizen participation in decision-making.
The projects span a wide range of thematic areas: waste management (6 projects), natural resource preservation (3), air quality (4), green spaces and afforestation (2), water resource management (1), renewable energy sources (1), and eco-tourism (1). All initiatives include components aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and raising public awareness about the importance of environmental protection.
