Switzerland Supports 18 Local Environmental Initiatives Across Serbia
With financial support from the Government of Switzerland amounting to over EUR 225,000 and contributions from local self-governments worth more than EUR 31,000, projects addressing key environmental challenges at the local level will be implemented over the next year.
Through a public call, local self-governments, in partnership with civil society organisations, proposed projects that respond to concrete needs in the field of environmental protection, with a particular focus on nature-based solutions and citizen participation in decision-making processes.
The supported projects cover a wide range of areas, including waste management, preservation of natural resources, air quality improvement, greening and reforestation, water resource management, renewable energy, and the development of ecotourism. All initiatives also include activities aimed at raising public awareness of the importance of environmental conservation.
This support not only improves environmental protection at the local level, but also fosters collaboration between local self-governments and civil society organisations, while strengthening the capacities of local institutions.
The following local self-governments received support: Babušnica, Bela Palanka, Bojnik, Bosilegrad, Ćuprija, Knjaževac, Kragujevac, Kraljevo, Medveđa, Niš, Osečina, Prijepolje, Ražanj, Sjenica, Svilajnac, Tutin, Valjevo, Vrnjačka Banja.
More information on the supported projects is available in the overview of the public call results.
