"PRO Programme - Local Governance for People and Nature", financially supported with 2 million euros from the Swiss Government, will provide better living conditions for around 1,600 informal waste pickers and their families, improving their economic position, social inclusion and access to public services.

The training cycle for capacity building of expert teams for good governance at the local level, which, with the support of the Swiss government, was implemented by the joint UN program "PRO - Local Governance for People and Nature" was successfully completed.

The share of citizens satisfied with the services provided by their local self-governments has increased over the past four years – one half of the respondents now believe that the local authorities in Serbia are looking after the citizens and extending them services responding to their needs.

The third Steering Committee meeting of the Programme “PRO – Local Governance for People and Nature” was held on 11 June, 2024, in Belgrade. During the meeting, the Annual Report for 2023 was adopted, and progress in implementation as well as planned activities until the end of 2024 were presented.

The role of LSGs in implementing the Law on Nature Protection and reporting to the Environmental Protection Agency were some of the topics discussed at the first workshop aimed at improving environmental governance at the local level, organized by the PRO Programme - Local Governance for People and Nature with the support of the Government of Switzerland .
