Technical Assistance for the Establishment of Inter-Municipal Cooperation for the Provision of Social Protection Services has Started
Through joint training and mentoring, the representatives of 15 supported local self-governments will acquire new knowledge related to the organisational, financial and professional aspects of inter-municipal cooperation in order to provide more effective services to vulnerable groups.
During the first training, the most common service that was recognised as needed at the inter-municipal level is a shelter for different target groups, and the development of this social protection service would contribute to the deinstitutionalization process.
Technical assistance is part of the intervention that the Programme PRO - Local Governance for People and Nature implements with the support of the Swiss Government, with the aim of improving the capacity of local self-governments and relevant local actors for the development of public policies of social inclusion and social protection.
The following local self-governments are covered by this Programme support: Aleksandrovac, Babušnica, Valjevo, Veliko Gradište, Despotovac, Kraljevo, Mionica, Nova Varoš, Pirot, Priboj, Prijepolje, Raška, Sjenica, Trstenik and Ćuprija.
The Programme "PRO - Local Governance for People and Nature" is jointly implemented by the United Nations agencies in Serbia - UNOPS, UNICEF, UNFPA and UNEP, in cooperation with the Government of Serbia and with the financial support of the Swiss Government.
